Supporting Women in Growing Kitchen Gardening in Afghanistan

BRD under its social protection program concluded kitchen gardening training for 30 women Eastern provinces of Ningarahar.BRD is determined in promoting sustainable community development through pragmatic interventions.Cultural barriers and social insecurity limit the employment opportunity for Afghan women. Hence kitchen garden and Animal husbandry is a safe alternative for Afghan women to support their families. This project of BRD Afghanistan supports those women from poor families, especially the widows and breadwinners, who have access to land inside or outside of their house, to run a kitchen garden or interested to keep animal and work with the dairy product. The geographical scope of this project is the areas where BRD Afghanistan has established its presence (mainly Eastern and Central region). This helps to enhance resource optimization and ensure 100% of fund utilisation directly for this kitchen garden project.
