Emergency Response Protects Jam Minaret from Flood Disaster

The Bureau for Rights Based Development (BRD), in partnership with UNESCO, successfully completed an emergency riverbed cleaning project to safeguard the historic Jam Minaret in Shahrak District, Ghor Province. Following severe flash floods that threatened this UNESCO World Heritage Site, BRD removed over 9500 cubic meters of sediment, reinforced protective structures, and restored access roads. The project was implemented in close coordination with the Ministry of Information and Culture, local authorities, and community representatives.

This timely intervention not only prevented further damage to the Minaret but also strengthened local engagement and ownership. As BRD looks ahead to long-term preservation and sustainable development, we invite partners, donors, and heritage advocates to support future protection efforts.
